Full Job Description
The Expeditor is the link between the culinary team and our guests. They are responsible for the smooth flow of orders and efficient delivery of service. They communicate with the Wine Educators, Private Client & Trade Specialists, and the Chefs while also inspecting the quality of the dishes served.
The Expeditor will work with the Chefs and Line Cooks, calling orders and preparing dishes for delivery to the guests. A key element of this role is to ensure that each team member receives the proper orders. Success in this role will be demonstrated by positive feedback from guests through timely and accurate order delivery.
Core Responsibilities
- Maintains verbal communication with Chefs and Wine Educators.
- Monitors the quality of dishes.
- Serves and presents dishes to guests, with the ability to explain menu items.
- Ensures adherence to health and sanitation standards.
- Applies garnishes on dishes and makes sure plates go to guests clean.
- Addresses complaints of guests.
- Assists staff where needed.
Efficient Service Support:
- Keep floors free and clear of broken glass, water, and other debris during service.
- Stock wine consistently during service.
- Wash, dry, and buff all glasses, plates, flatware, and any other utensil used during service.
- Transport supplies from storage as needed throughout service.
- Communicate with management on supply levels and needs on a daily basis.
- Required to participate in the setup, support, and breakdown of events.
- Provide guests with world-class customer service at all times.
- Describe tasting room options with accuracy and enthusiasm.
- Deliver food to guests.
- Facilitate bottle and merchandise sales for guests.
Set-up and Close Down:
- Follow the opening checklist, ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely manner and the Tasting Room is fully cleaned, stocked, and ready for guests by opening time.
- Initiate closing tasks and follow a checklist to ensure all necessary tasks are completed, resulting in a clean, stocked, and ready Tasting Room for the opening staff.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Able to complete multiple tasks with accuracy and urgency.
- Prior experience working in a kitchen as a food expeditor or similar role.
- Ability to react quickly in a high intensity environment, always maintaining a calm professional demeanor.
- Proficient in English
- Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and adapt to a flexible schedule.
- Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs. or one case of wine.

Working Conditions
- Regular working schedule to include a mix of weekdays, weekends, holidays, and some evenings.
- Long and irregular hours during peak seasons and/or special events.
- Moderate to heavy physical work (moving wine, plates, and setting up for special events).
- Standing for long periods of time (8 hours per day).

Compensation for this role is $16/hr. This position is eligible to participate in the tip pool at DAOU.
