Job Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
- Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
- Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
- Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
- Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
- Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Chief Nursing Officer
Requirements
Minimum Education:
- Associate's degree in Nursing required.
- Bachelor's degree highly, preferred.
- Master's degree MHA, MSN, MBA or related field highly preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in Emergency Department Services.
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role highly preferred or equivalent combination of education and/ or experience.
License:
- Current Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama or current Compact State Registered Nurse (without restriction).
Required Skills:
- Handle with Care certification and American Heart Association.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire or transfer.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) within 90 days of hire or transfer.
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) is preferred within one year of employment/eligibility.
- EMTALA & EHAC training in Healthstream upon hire and once each year.
