User Researcher

Hybrid: Local candidates only. Candidates must be located within 2 hours of Lansing, MI. NO REMOTE ONLY OPTION. Will need to be onsite from day 1, two days a week. Resource will be working a hybrid schedule. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are required onsite days.

The State of Michigan is working to transform how our community interacts with state government.  As a UX researcher, you will join the Office of Continuous Improvement, Human- Centered Design program working on enhancing the customer journey of high-impact projects across all of state government.  You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, developers, and designers and be a voice for our users.  You will be involved in conducting up-front user research and sharing feedback with the agency program.

Develop research strategies that will not only answer known questions but may reveal previously unidentified factors that should be considered.

Design and conduct generative and evaluative research.

Collect, store, and steward qualitative and quantitative data.

Communicate, influence, and collaborate with stakeholders and project teams.

Adapt and flex to dynamic project needs and priorities.

Scope problems and objectives that may not be clear to stakeholders and project teams.

Advocate and evangelize to teams who are not yet familiar with UX design and research.

Requirements

BS, MS, or PhD in Anthropology, Psychology, Human Factors, Information Science, or similar field

Experience leading substantial qualitative and mixed methods research projects.

Understanding of, and interest in, various UX research methodologies including user interviews, work shadows, focus groups, usability tests and more.

What the role is responsible for:
Employee will be working in both an office and at dealerships, taking oversight from User Experience Researcher and Product Managers, with the goal of deeply understanding current state digital products and processes, understanding pain points and opportunities for improvement, piloting new tools and processes with Deeres employees and Dealership employees, to best understand usability and impact of the new products.
