Responsibilities:
- Respond to patient needs and requests as they arise in a timely manner.
- Verify and document vital signs, intake and output records; administer medication, such as taking blood pressure, administering pain medication and antibiotics.
- Present information to patients and families that helps to decrease potential trauma and stress.
- Take patients' histories, explain surgical procedures, and assist patients through recovery.
- Provide advice to patients about how to care for themselves after returning home.
- Follow infection prevention guidelines.
- Administer medications as prescribed.
- Communicate with other healthcare providers as needed.
