Background

Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering economic growth and improving the quality of life in rural Maryland communities. MRDC was founded in 1979 as the Community Action Agency (CAA) for the Upper Eastern Shore of Maryland. In 1986, MRDC began its 40-year partnership with Head Start and added Early Head Start in recent years.

Today, MRDC has a budget of over $12 million and a staff of 150. Services provided include Head Start, Early Head Start, Housing: including First Time Homebuyer Program, Foreclosure Assistance/Mortgage Modification, Home Repairs and Weatherization and Emergency Housing.
