Geo-Synthetics Systems is looking for a motivated, competitive, business development-minded individual for Territory Sales in our Construction Products Division. This individual must be self-motivated and driven by success in developing new relationships with both existing & new customers. Must be outgoing & willing to travel to construction offices, construction sites, and willing to build a conversation with anyone.
GSI offers an extensive selection of construction products including landscape fabrics, geogrid, geotextile fabrics, erosion control, sediment control, geomembranes, drainage products and custom fabricated products.
The primary responsibility of this position is the marketing and sales of GSI’s products. This includes identifying, validating, and cultivating customer relationships, as well as providing ongoing support to ensure customer satisfaction. The role involves selling products on behalf of a manufacturer or distributor to a diverse range of clients, including government agencies, landscapers, contractors, specifiers, and end-user establishments or individuals. Sales activities may take place at the sales office, store, showroom, or directly at the customer’s location.
This position is based in the Menasha office, with occasional travel to our headquarters in Waukesha, WI.
- Must be outgoing, competitive, and driven to succeed in a competitive sales market while balancing multiple opportunities at one time.
- Develop Regional Construction Products Sales and Marketing Plan, including detailed strategies and objectives.
- Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
- Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, or talks with customers by phone.
- Displays or demonstrates product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.
- Utilize Goldmine CRM and QuoteWerks software.
- Maintain and nurture customer relationships while expanding the customer base.
- Respond to customer/prospect inquiries, providing information and proposals in a timely fashion.
- Understand customer needs/requirements, recognizing opportunities to provide value added solutions.
- Calculate and price quotes in the context of the Sales and Marketing Plan.
- Source new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls and e-mails.
- Source projects via customers, engineers, end users, the internet, etc.
- Communicate opportunities discovered to other divisions for their services and/or products.
- Attend, exhibit, and present at conferences/trade shows.
- Generate pending proposals report at least monthly.
- Maintain strict confidentiality with-in, and outside the company.
- Follow, and encourage others to follow, safety protocols.
- Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.
- Prepares reports of business transactions and submits expense accounts monthly.
- Works with inside sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date.
- Coordinates customer training.
- Enters and maintains customer data and other sales data for current customers into Goldmine
- Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts.
- Investigates and resolves customer issues.
Requirements
- Has direct knowledge of erosion control products and/or a network of contractors/customers/suppliers.
- Has a bachelor’s degree (preferred emphasis on Sales, Marketing, Construction, etc); or 3+ years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Has excellent problem-solving skills.
- Has the desire to stay up to date on market trends.
- Has excellent oral and written communication skills.
