We are hiring a Senior Project Engineer to join our team in Chilton, WI. Here in Chilton, we manufacture hand torches and fuel cylinders sold under our Bernzomatic brand, a well-established name in the tools and outdoor living space. The Project Engineer will be responsible for completing a broad range of engineering projects. Projects will include new equipment procurement and installation; facility upgrades; process improvements; equipment enhancements including new automation; and projects involving electrical systems, PLC, HMI, and safety circuit design upgrades. This role may also support electrical, control and mechanical projects that may be stand-alone projects or portions of a larger projects managed by others.
Responsibilities:
- Develop project scope and objectives as well as budget and schedules for electrical, controls, mechanical, and automation projects in nature
- Direct and support project team for electrical, controls, mechanical, and automation projects in nature
- The Project Engineer will support the facilities by participating in Transformation, Continuous Improvement and Cost Savings initiatives and activities. Additionally, this role will have interactions with QC, Regulatory, EH&S, Finance, as well as other functional groups.
- Identify and manage project risks and issues
- Communicate project status/metric/etc. to stakeholders and senior management
- Troubleshoot & provide support to other departments as necessary
- Approximately 5%-15% travel
Requirements
Desired Experience:
- Manufacturing background with capital project experience is required
- Proficient with computer-based 2D & 3D software (i.e., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
- Process Safety Management (PSM) knowledge preferred
- Fundamental knowledge of machine design and operating principles
- Fundamental knowledge of machine repair and troubleshooting practices
- Fundamental knowledge and/or ability to quickly familiarize oneself with codes and standards
- Fundamental knowledge and/or ability to quickly familiarize oneself with product and process design techniques
- Fundamental knowledge of the functions that PLC’s perform with facility production equipment
- Strong interpersonal communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and sound decision making skills
- Independent contributor who can excel in a Team environment
