Full Job Description


We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Paraprofessionals to join our dynamic Montessori charter school community. In this role, you will work directly with special needs children from infancy to 9th grade, providing essential support to ensure their holistic development and academic success. Your contributions will play a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities and English language learners, in accordance with their individualized education plans (IEPs) and Montessori principles.
  • Assist in implementing evidence-based practices in special education, such as differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and behavior management strategies, to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate closely with Special Education Teachers, classroom teachers, and other professionals to create and implement effective learning experiences that promote student growth and independence.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment by building strong relationships with students, providing encouragement, and promoting self-confidence and self-advocacy skills.
  • Support students during classroom activities, transitions, and independent work periods, ensuring their safety, engagement, and participation in the learning process.
  • Communicate regularly with colleagues, parents/guardians, and relevant stakeholders to provide updates on student progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in special education practices, Montessori philosophy, and other relevant areas.

Requirements

  • Passion for working with special needs children and a commitment to their academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Education or related field of study (required).
  • Previous experience working with children with diverse learning needs, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of Montessori principles and practices, or willingness to learn and implement them effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents/guardians, and community members.
  • Patience, empathy, and flexibility in responding to the individual needs and challenges of each student.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus but not required.
  • Valid teaching certification/license per state regulations.
