Materials Manager

The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing all inventory operations, including the receipt, storage, and replenishment of purchased and manufactured materials. This role ensures the efficient and effective management of warehouse activities to meet organizational goals and customer expectations. Key responsibilities include managing inventory control, coordinating inter-site materials, optimizing warehouse layout and workflow, and leading a team of warehouse staff. The Materials Manager will implement and maintain best practices in warehousing, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and utilize data-driven approaches to improve operational efficiency. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential for this position, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and external partners.

• Inventory Management: Oversee the accurate receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods while conducting regular inventory audits to ensure stock accuracy.
• Warehouse Operations: Plan, coordinate, and optimize warehouse layout and workflow to ensure efficient operations.
• Staff Supervision: Lead and supervise materials staff, scheduling tasks and fostering a positive work environment.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards, conducting regular safety audits and enforcing protocols.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements using data-driven approaches to enhance materials efficiency.
• Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inventory and warehouse activities, preparing regular performance reports.
• Customer Service: Collaborate with customer service and sales teams to meet customer expectations and resolve order-related issues.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree, or equivalency, and a minimum of three years in Materials Management, Warehouse Management, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to effectively lead, motivate, and manage a team.
• Exercise sound judgement and decision making.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for interacting with various stakeholders.
• Relevant certifications in warehouse management, supply chain, or logistics are a plus.
