Full Job Description

The Grants & Development Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Chief Marketing Officer to develop funding prospects and perform grant writing on continuation and new grants. This position will develop and assist with all funding prospects, grant writing, and fundraising efforts to sustain financial stability for the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Grant Writing

  • Research prospective grant sources (private, corporate, and government) compatible with WRTP | BIG STEP’s mission, values, and programs in support of the organization’s strategic and program goals
  • Coordinate the development of grant requests by establishing timelines that outline tasks, assignments, and deadlines; meet all deadlines; facilitate timely communications with program leadership
  • Draft and edit high quality, compelling LOIs, grant proposals, grant reports, and acknowledgement letters
  • Research and collect data and study findings to support grant proposals and reports. Special attention should be made in checking for completeness against grant instructions, spelling, grammar, and style; and to ensure compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Work with senior leadership on departmental budgets to meet grant sources’ budget requirements
  • Compile, package, and submit final grant materials per grant instructions, and within funder deadlines
  • Respond to inquiries from funders and programs strategically and in a timely manner based on guidance from the CMO and COO
  • Establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships with private grantors, corporate funders, and governmental agencies
  • Review, summarize, and track data on grant proposals and awards received

Development Opportunities

  • Assist in executing the organization’s annual development plan and strategic marketing efforts
  • Contribute in efforts to generate additional revenue by developing and implementing fundraising strategies; solicitations, sponsorships, marketing outreach, and events
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with funding organizations
  • Support and execute special organizational events
  • Help in the development and implementation of effective written and online fundraising appeals, leading to sustained and upgraded giving

Requirements

  • Grant writing experience required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Solid writing/editing and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with proposal writing
  • Eye for detail, design, and effective storytelling
  • Knowledge of grant research techniques
  • Track record of positioning an organization to achieve tangible outcomes in a competitive communications and funding environment
  • Cultural competence to effectively interact, work, and develop meaningful relationships with a diverse population
  • Knowledge of federal, state, local and private foundation grant landscape related to workforce development
  • Ability to work alone and in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
