Full Job Description
This role is responsible for executing all tasks necessary to develop comprehensive project estimates. It involves managing projects from bid monitoring and preparation through budgeting, ensuring accurate cost assessments for successful bids. The position requires handling projects of varying sizes and complexities, taking full ownership of project estimation to support project managers and overall company operations.
Requirements
Estimating:
- Identify and evaluate new project opportunities.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site walkthroughs.
- Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to gather necessary estimating information.
- Coordinate with general contractors and engineers to clarify budgeting questions and pricing.
- Conduct bid layouts, material counts, and prepare cost totals.
- Perform detailed material take-offs for various project systems.
- Obtain vendor quotes and coordinate subcontractor pricing.
- Develop comprehensive project estimates and prepare proposals for submission.
- Create detailed budgets for project managers and field teams based on estimates.
Business Development:
- Attend client meetings and interviews to serve as a technical resource and showcase expertise.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry professionals.
- Participate in industry events to expand professional network and business opportunities.
- Promote additional company services to existing and potential clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in commercial construction projects of medium to large scale.
- Strong technical knowledge of plumbing systems, codes, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in the design and construction of plumbing systems for commercial buildings.
- Understanding of construction processes, including technology, equipment, estimating, scheduling, and safety standards.
- Ability to analyze job financial reports and apply them in project budgeting.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and technical specifications.
- Strong ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with take-off and estimating software (e.g., FastEst) is preferred.
NOTES:
- Non-Union position, the employee cannot be in a union
- What we’re looking for:
i. Must have plumbing project estimating experience in medium to large scale commercial construction projects, including plumbingdesign & construction, to manage bid preparation and project budgeting.
ii. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of plumbing systems, an understanding of construction methods, and the ability to generate accurate estimates for projects of varying sizes.
iii. Business development skills, including building and maintaining relationships with clients, general contractors, and subcontractors, are also essential to drive project opportunities and company growth.
