Full Job Description
TPAPT is a consortium of over 12,000 local teachers, tutors, and test prep professionals and we are looking for Elementary Music Teachers to work with small group classes at local schools.
If you have a passion for Music and a gift for inspiring young minds, we are looking for you. You must have a solid understanding of the national curriculum standards and have experience closing the achievement gap, and you must also develop engaging and innovative lessons that allow our students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. You are someone who incorporates technology and hands-on learning experiences into the classroom with enthusiasm. The ideal candidate also believes in collaboration with other colleagues and promotes understanding and communication in a diverse learning and cultural environment.
Specifics:
- Start date is ASAP to finish off the 2023-2024 academic year as well as take on the next 2024-2025 academic year.
- Schedule: Monday & Thursday 8:00 am to 3:00pm
Responsibilities and Duties
- Set and reinforce clear expectations and routines that are aligned with the school’s overall vision.
- Ability to play several instruments.
- Develop and implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards.
- Thoughtfully plan daily lessons and implement specific strategies to meet the needs of all students, providing extra support, enrichment, or variation of work when necessary.
- Demonstrate strong content knowledge.
- Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards and diagnose areas of student misunderstanding.
- Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
- Be accountable for students’ academic growth and increase each individual student’s achievement.
- Create a positive, achievement-oriented learning environment.
- Reflect on successes and areas of growth as a teacher, seek to improve performance, and respond to feedback.
- Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions.
- Invest parents and families in their children’s academic success through regular communication.
Requirements
- Associates degree or Junior year standing at a 4 year college + experience required; Bachelors degree preferred
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
- Must have experience working with children.
- Ability to communicate effectively and often with parents and families.
- Strong instructional skills and classroom management.
- Enthusiasm for and demonstrated mastery of subject matter.
- Unrelenting commitment to students, self, and school’s constant learning and development.
- Ability to self-reflect on teaching practices and be responsive to feedback.
