Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled UI Engineer to lead the development of a seamless checkout experience for our customers utilizing staffed-checkout lanes. This role involves collaborating closely with architects, product managers, UX designers, and operations teams to ensure the development of secure, stable, and scalable products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in React.js, Node.js, Java, and system design, preferably with experience in POS/checkout systems within the retail sector.

Requirements

• Evaluate, identify, estimate, and develop software solutions that enhance the checkout experience.
• Lead the design and architecture of frontend applications and backend integrations.
• Document and record all aspects of applications or software.
• Address complex technical issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions.
• Develop good working relationships with marketing managers, product managers, programmers, and other engineers.
• Utilize data science for optimization of search and personalization capabilities.
• Implement CI/CD practices and maintain high code quality through unit testing and code reviews.

Required Qualifications:

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of industry experience, with at least 5 years in software development within an agile team environment.
• Expert level knowledge in Java, JavaScript, React, and frontend technologies.
• Proficient knowledge of NoSQL databases and system design.
• Experience with integrating frontend applications with backend APIs.
• Strong experience in design, development, coding, testing, and releasing to QA.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in POS/checkout system development within the retail industry.
• Experience using cloud service providers such as Azure and GCP for application deployment and monitoring.
• Demonstrated ability to improve code quality through automation and performing code reviews.
