Full Job Description

EPIC Early Learning is currently hiring a passionate and dedicated Preschool Team Teacher to join our team. As a private, nonprofit organization, EPIC has been providing early childhood educational services to children and families in Central Washington for over 35 years. Our mission is to empower children to reach their full potential through nurturing relationships, engaging experiences, and high-quality education.

The Preschool Team Teacher will work collaboratively with other teachers to provide a positive and enriching learning environment for children in the preschool program. You will help develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans, engage children in hands-on activities, and support their social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Responsibilities

  • Teach in assigned classroom on a daily basis.
  • Administer developmental assessments and health screenings for children.
  • Plan and implement classroom activities and prepare materials and supplies.
  • Implement, support, and promote policies and procedures for Child Abuse and Neglect, Child Guidance and Active Supervision.
  • Conduct child observations and input data as assigned. 
  • Maintain all required written and electronic documentation.
  • Schedule and conduct parent teacher conferences and home visits.
  • Provide assistance to classroom volunteers and parents to help them feel comfortable and successful in the classroom by providing guidance and direction to them during the classroom session.
  • Use practices that value cultural backgrounds, special needs, and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Assist the Center Manager/Designee in scheduling the staff in the classroom for required trainings.
  • Be committed to characterizing a culture of safety within our centers, playgrounds, buses and anywhere that children may be present. Be familiar with and encourage EPICs culture of “See Something, Say Something”.

Requirements

  • ECE State Initial Certificate or equivalent &/or willingness to work towards AA in ECE
  • Childcare Basics 30 hours STARS training or educational exemption in MERIT.
  • Two years or more experience working with young children in a preschool setting
  • Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with children, families, and colleagues
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Passionate about providing high-quality education and support to young children

Location:

Jefferson (902 E. Viola Yakima, WA 98901)

Pay Level: $21.62 to $25.51 Hourly (9-Month position)

Please note: This position is available for the 2024-2025 program year, with the first day of employment scheduled for August 20, 2024.

Conditions of Employment:

  1. Prior to employment, complete a pre-employment drug screen, TB skin test by an EPIC approved healthcare provider at no cost to the employee.
  2. Pre-employment basic physical by an EPIC healthcare provider (obtain within (30) days of employment and no cost to the employee).
  3. Must pass an initial and periodic background check through the Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF).
  4. Provide proof of MMR vaccination and/ or resistance to Measles, Mumps & Rubella.
  5. Current Food Handlers card (obtain the training within 30 days of employment).
  6. Current First Aid/CPR card (obtain within 30 days of employment).
  7. Complete Childcare Basics 30 hours STARS training within 3 months of hire
  8. Meet the minimum education requirements within the timeframe as stated in the performance standards.
  9. Complete Child Abuse and Neglect training and all other mandated training.
  10. CEO Approval.
