Control Risks is hiring for a Senior Compliance Data Analyst role to directly support our clients Compliance & Ethics group as they run investigations into potential risks such as corruption, fraud, and unethical business conduct.
This position will work with various members of the team including compliance attorneys, software engineers, and other data analysts. The primary focus of the role is to collect and analyze data to enhance decision-making processes in investigations.
Responsibilities
- Independently scope requests and clearly communicate with relevant stakeholders to understand the background, associated risks, and align on the goals of data analysis.
- Explore and validate data sources for data availability, quality, and completeness. Connect with relevant stakeholders to pursue access or assistance in interpretation.
- Perform SQL queries across various internal data sources, including those related to business operations and compliance, to extract relevant information for each request or case.
- Supplement internal data analysis with external research on relevant company information, including ownership, leadership, structure, and compliance risks.
- Prepare structured written reports summarizing request background, analysis, data insights, findings, conclusions, and recommended next steps.
- Communicate results of analysis to non-technical stakeholders to ensure understanding, collect feedback, and discuss any follow-on work needed.
- Write concise technical documentation including but not limited to the following: knowledge base, sustainable best practices, training materials, and presentations.
- Organize, facilitate and report on meetings with internal and external peers.
- Build and maintain awareness of the broader context and implications of the various types of risk affecting the business (e.g., financial, legal, reputation, etc.).
- Execute routine communication with investigations stakeholders to ensure high-quality customer service and effective case management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Business Studies, Compliance & Security studies or Computer Science, or similar fields and 3+ years of equivalent practical experience.
- OR 5+ years of equivalent practical experience.
- Highly skilled with SQL and Power BI.
- Ability to think outside of the box and to work in a fast paced, dynamic global environment.
- Highly self-motivated and directed professional with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize, manage projects to drive results, and follow-up are essential.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to represent the Compliance function and to effectively work with stakeholders to improve processes and relationships.
- Experience running current state compliance assessments and highlighting business impact and recommendations.
- Aptitude for risk management and the ability to test set controls within the business.
- Must have an interest in analytical, systematic work duties.
The base salary range for this position in California or NYC is $100,000-$125,000 per year. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is provided per California SB 1162 and the NYC Wage Transparency Law.
