Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in Surgical Nephrology plays a crucial role in providing specialized care to patients undergoing surgical interventions related to nephrology. The RN ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing, planning, and implementing care plans for patients undergoing surgical procedures related to nephrology.
- Providing direct patient care, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and assisting in surgical interventions.
- Monitoring and managing post-operative complications, such as fluid and electrolyte imbalances.
- Educating patients and their families on post-operative care and management of nephrology-related conditions.
- Collaborating with surgeons, nephrologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
- Participating in interdisciplinary rounds and contributing to the development of patient care plans.
- Documenting patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and comprehensively.
- Ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and maintaining a safe clinical environment.
- Participating in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care processes and outcomes.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a focus on surgical or nephrology nursing.
- Prior experience in surgical nephrology or a related surgical specialty.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
- Proficiency in assessing and managing surgical and nephrology-related emergencies.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities in high-pressure environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient and family education.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Proficient in electronic medical record (EMR) documentation and charting.
- Commitment to maintaining professional development and staying updated on nephrology and surgical nursing best practices.
