Requirements
Net Zero Intern: This is where you come in.
We’re seeking a remote (hybrid/in-person optional) intern to support our MEP2040 efforts. MEP 2040 is a commitment by more than 90 engineering firms around the world to reduce total carbon emissions associated with building systems through collective action. You should possess a self-drive and passion for buildings as a solution to mitigating climate change. This internship is funded through the Energy Trust of Oregon’s (ETO) Net Zero Emerging Leaders Internship Grant.

We welcome individuals who possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below to apply!
Top expectations to be a hero:
- Knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems, as well as the difference between operational and embodied carbon
- Previous participation in MEP 2040 quarterly calls or familiarity with the Carbon Leadership Forum, preferred
- Interest in decreasing energy and water use for buildings
- Able to read architectural and mechanical drawings and electrical/natural gas bills
The Net Zero Intern role reports to Marisa Zylkowski – Sustainability Design Manager on a collaborative team working on a variety of projects and initiatives to support our growing business. This highly visible role interacts with all levels and functions within the organization.
Your Background: What kind of person will thrive in this role?
You should have…
- A track record of delivering quality work and being curious about the details
- Expertise in public speaking and professional report creation
- Access to your own laptop/computer with video and audio capabilities for virtual meetings
- An In-Progress Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Science, Construction Management or other related degree

Benefits
Compensation: $28/hr
Where you will work
Our headquarters are located at 17930 International Blvd, SeaTac WA, so local students will have the opportunity to work in the office throughout this internship. However, this role is also open to remote work for students located in WA, OR, MT, ID, CO, TX, or TN ONLY
