The Opportunity:
The Practice NW is a small, family-owned business that has been in operation in north Thurston County since 2022. Our purpose is to provide comprehensive business services for mental health professionals who are small-business owners, commonly referred to as private practitioners, so they can focus on offering mental health services without having to navigate the time-consuming and complex tasks associated with insurance credentialing, medical billing, office leases, and other business administration responsibilities.

We are looking for a team member who shares our values and can help us strengthen and expand the array of services we offer with an initial focus on medical billing. This position would start at 20 hours/week with the potential to grow into a full-time supervisory position.

- Be willing and able to start in a part-time role and increase hours, potentially up to full-time employment, as supported by program growth (ideally within a year of employment)
Responsibilities:
Medical/Mental Health Billing
- Insurance Credentialing
- Billing for mental health services, including but not limited to: Insurance verification, Claim validation, Claim submission, Claim rejection/denial follow-up, Payment posting/reconciliation
Office Operations Support
- Member-management platform administration support
- Mail processing
- Space management and community event support
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Legally eligible to work in the United States and at least 18 years old
- Education and experience related to medical coding and billing:
1) At least two (2) years of experience in insurance credentialing and medical coding and billing.
2) Extensive knowledge of insurance payor reimbursement and accounts receivable follow-up with demonstrated knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party coding requirements specific to behavioral health.
3) Current certification as a Certified Professional Coder with the American Association of Professional Coders (or equivalent) or ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire preferred.
- Office management and/or project management experience
- Proficient in basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Comfortable developing proficiency in use of new EHRs and other software programs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail

Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting at 20 hours per week at $24-27/hour DOE
