The Role

The Managing Director of Operations Training will be responsible for creating and leading a vision of the “SchoolOps Way” to build and deliver Operations-centered professional learning and coaching to school teams around the country. This Managing Director will own modeling high quality professional learning and coaching and build a team of content developers, subject matter experts, coaches, and facilitators who are aligned to their vision of excellence. The Managing Director of Operations Training will report directly to SchoolOps’ Founder and President. The responsibilities of this role are expected to expand and deepen as SchoolOps grows.

Location

This role is fully remote. Travel may be required up to 20% of work time, with initial levels closer to 10%.

Responsibilities

Creating and Facilitating Operations Content, Training, and Coaching (25%)

  • NOTE: Initially this workstream will be a larger percentage of the role (around 75%) as the Managing Director creates exemplars and models the “SchoolOps Way” to design and facilitate content. As the role grows, this should decrease to around 25% of time spent.
  • Model high quality professional learning by building both in-person and remote professional learning modules.
  • Create model resources, templates, and exemplars for the SchoolOps Resource Library, which our training and coaching staff can reference.
  • Review, provide feedback on, and suggest improvements for SchoolOps’ existing professional learning content.
  • Facilitate both remote and in-person SchoolOps professional learning sessions.
  • Lead high quality coaching sessions.

Manage Vision and Team for Operations Professional Learning (75%)

  • Initially this workstream will be a smaller percentage of the role (around 25%) as the Managing Director focuses on creating exemplars and modeling the “SchoolOps Way” to design and facilitate content. As the role grows, this should increase to around 75% of time spent.
  • Build and lead a vision for the “SchoolOps Way” of developing and facilitating high quality operations professional learning.
  • Build and lead a vision for the “SchoolOps Way” of coaching school operations leaders.
  • Work with the SchoolOps President, and directly with clients, to identify content & training needs across a range of projects.
    • Lead execution of that content & training in accordance with project goals.
  • Test and refine interview processes to ensure that SchoolOps is staffing projects with content developers, subject matter experts, coaches, and facilitators who meet our bar of excellence.
  • Assess the needs of each project, staffing and managing a team of professional learning creators that is uniquely poised to meet the needs of the project.
  • Build standard operating procedures and checklists to ensure that SchoolOps has systematized processes for building and facilitating professional learning as well as providing high quality coaching.
  • Build a roadmap for exemplars, artifacts, and other resources that our team will need to create for our Resource Library, in order to equip coaches with the tools they need to move their clients forward.
  • Manage the project team to success on each project, including:
    • Brief them on content already in the SchoolOps Professional Learning Library or resources in the Resource Library that may be relevant to their projects.
    • Create a clear timeline for delivering draft and final versions of professional learning content.
    • Provide feedback early and often on professional learning deliverables.
    • Approve final products before trainings occur.
    • Assess the efficacy of coaching sessions and provide frequent feedback.

Requirements

Skills and Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience creating high quality professional learning sessions for adult professionals.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a school, CMO, or district-level operations leadership role.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing project teams.
  • Deep understanding of the importance of anti-racist and inclusion-centered practices in education
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to give and receive frequent feedback
  • Highly organized and details oriented

In addition to the skills listed above, the candidate should have a relatively strong understanding of our two primary types of professional learning: School Operations and Organizational Management. The candidate does not need to be an expert in all of the skills listed below, but should have direct experience with a majority of these topics, and be comfortable enough with all topics that they can engage subject matter experts and direct the creation of professional learning.

Benefits

Compensation

The compensation range for this role is $140,000 - $160,000 subject to a candidate’s experience. SchoolOps offers a competitive benefits package, including full paid health, dental, and vision alongside a 401k plan with a 5% employer contribution. This position will also be supported by a part time virtual executive assistant.
