Requirements

Lead Estimator: This is where you come in. 

We’re looking for a Lead Estimator to manage a group of professionals in the development of complete and accurate assessments of a projects total mechanical cost. You will implement procedures for the continuous improvement of the estimating process through advancing technology and methods. As a leader you will be responsible for the training and professional development of individual team members.

A Lead Estimator will display effective communication and collaboration with internal and external customers.  You will ensure that estimates are completed accurately, thoroughly, and on-time with all required deliverables.  You will provide mentorship, training, and development of team members. You will exercise a practical understanding of means & methods, market sectors, and MMFS approach to business through estimating application and team education.   You will assist in the development, maintenance, and implementation of tools and processes used, and supported by, the Estimating team.

Top deliverables in the first year to be a hero: 

  • Ensure that all assigned estimates are completed accurately, thoroughly, and on time with all required deliverables.
  • Develop, manage, and apply metrics for the department and the sales team.
  • Exercise working knowledge on applicable estimating resources such MCA, SMACNA, NECA, Wendes, and RS-Means.
  • Mentor Team members in effective communication and collaboration skills, mediums, and tools.
  • Participate in project interviews, presentations and detailed estimate reviews with customers as necessary.
  • Assist in maintaining, sustaining and updating tools both used and supported by Estimating.
  • Participate in jobsite walks, project reviews and job meetings as appropriate to validate the estimating cost basis.
  • Exhibit servant leadership and advance the team by example through mutual respect.

 

The Lead Estimator role reports to our Director of Estimating. You will lead a collaborative team working on a variety of projects and initiatives to support our growing business. This highly visible role interacts with all levels and functions within the organization. 

 

Your Background: What kind of person will thrive in this role? 

You should have… 

  • Ten years of commercial estimating or preconstruction experience within the construction industry.
  • A track record of critical thinking and problem solving, using sound judgement to make decisions.
  • Ability to effectively manage, train and develop employees.
  • Experience in design/build and plan/spec delivery methods within a variety of market sectors, including commercial office, health care, hospitality, education, high-rise residential, bio-tech and government.
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating strategies & techniques.
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.

Benefits

Compensation: $110,000 to $150,000 annually
