Job Purpose:
The Event & Engagement Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of GSI events and programs, delivering exceptional experiences that strengthen member partner engagement and community connections. This role is critical to achieving the organization’s goals by ensuring events align with GSI’s mission, meet budgetary objectives, and enhance the organization’s visibility and impact. Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, this position requires expertise in event and program management, strategic collaboration, and a commitment to excellence in creating memorable and meaningful experiences.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and execute a wide range of events, including conferences, workshops, meetings, and social gatherings.
- Develop event concepts, themes, and agendas in alignment with organizational goals.
- Create detailed event plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring all logistical aspects are accounted for.
- Manage the event and program calendar in collaboration with colleagues to maintain realistic workloads and schedules.
- Develop a working knowledge of the needs of diverse event types, including in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats, while leveraging tools to streamline execution.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with member partners, vendors, and venues to ensure event quality and partner satisfaction.
- Work closely with internal and external vendors, including catering, venues, and audiovisual providers, to ensure seamless event execution.
- Liaise with speakers, panelists, and special guests to confirm schedules and requirements.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers to secure the best terms.
- Ensure all events comply with local regulations, health and safety standards, and organizational policies.
- Manage event staff, volunteers, and contractors to ensure roles and responsibilities are clear and executed efficiently.
- Collaborate with the Resource Development team to achieve sponsorship acquisition goals, deliver sponsor benefits, and provide recognition opportunities.
- Work closely with the Marketing & Communications team to develop and execute effective event promotion strategies.
- Evaluate events and program performance using participant feedback and key metrics, implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and success.
- Regularly review GSI’s event systems and processes to identify opportunities for streamlining workflows and optimizing resource allocation.
- Work with colleagues to discover and develop ways to retain, grow, better align, and leverage GSI resources for greater impact.
- Develop and maintain relationships with GSI’s board and member partners to improve investor engagement.
- Contribute to an organizational culture of teamwork, support, engagement, and empowerment.
- Regularly evaluate GSI’s systems and processes for continuous improvement; and contribute to the collection, organization, and presentation of key dates in relation to GSI’s strategic plan and goals.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and empowerment, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
- Participate in team efforts to create an atmosphere of mutual support and accountability.

- Education /Experience: Bachelor’s Degree and two or more years of experience in events leadership is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Certificates and Licenses: Valid driver’s license.
- Computer Skills: Technology savvy and proficient in using Microsoft Office suite, databases, CRM software, and the internet. Experience with Adobe InDesign is a plus; experience in event management systems/databases is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of technology, virtual event platforms, and social media.
- Ability to take direction and multi-task.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Time management and ability to prioritize a large volume of tasks.
- Self-motivation, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn, fail, and succeed.
Work Environment: Exposed to typical office environment conditions and noise levels. Frequently required to travel to local events, meetings, or training by car; travel may also include occasional trips outside the area by car or air. Work hours are typically 40 hours per week but may vary to accommodate early morning or evening meetings, events, and travel requirements. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay. Reliable access to privately owned transportation is required.
Physical Demands: The role requires regular sitting, hand use (e.g., typing), and communication tasks (e.g., talking or hearing). Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching may be necessary. Employees may occasionally need to lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities (close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and adjusting focus) are required.
Benefits
The salary range for this position is $24.04 - $28.85 per hour depending on experience
Full-time; Hourly, non-exempt
