Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting for a Communications Specialist in Richland, WA. This is a Co-Op position.

Navarro Research & Engineering is an award-winning federal contractor dedicated to partnering with clients to advance clean energy and deliver effective solutions for complex challenges in the nuclear and environmental fields. Headquartered in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Navarro has active programs in place across the nation for DOE/NNSA, NASA, and the Department of Defense.

This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA, and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. The Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).

Support Navarro-ATL’s Communications organization by creating and implementing materials that target audiences via social media, press releases, campaigns and newsletters. Work with the organization to tell a proactive story and produce high-quality content, support events.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, edit, and write narratives for Navarro-ATL to support strategic priorities.
  • Identify stories and produce high quality written materials for Navarro-ATL electronic, print, web, video, and media outlets.
  • Coordinate the design and copywriting of materials.
  • Interview source persons and research subjects in order to obtain information and verify facts.
  • Support event planning activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Communications or English
  • Combination of investigative, planning, and social media experience and skills
  • Understanding of Associated Press style guidelines
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, Canva, SharePoint software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Creative Writing

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)

Soph: $17.70/hr.

Jr: $19.36/hr.

Sr: $22.49/hr.

Post Grad: $25.71/hr.
