Full Job Description
EPIC Early Learning is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Classroom Assistant Intern to join our team. EPIC is a private, nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education to children and families in Central Washington for over 35 years. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a supportive learning environment.
As a Classroom Assistant Intern, your role will be to support the classroom teacher in implementing curriculum and creating a nurturing learning environment for children. You will assist with planning and delivering age-appropriate activities, providing one-on-one support to children, and promoting positive social interactions.
Responsibilities
1. Interact, play and engage with children.
2. Assist in implementing classroom activities under the supervision of the teaching team.
3. Assist the children with hand washing.
4. Assist with cleaning before and after mealtime.
5. Assist with cleanup of the classroom keeping a safe, healthy, nurturing environment for children.
6. Prepare material and supplies as directed by the teaching team.
7. Be committed to characterizing a culture of safety within our centers, playgrounds, buses and anywhere that children may be present. Be familiar with and encourage EPICs culture of “See Something, Say Something”.
Requirements
Required Qualification:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Ability to pass a background check
- Strong passion for early childhood education and child development
- Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability and dedication to being at work every day
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with EPIC’s staff, parents and children.
- Articulate EPIC’s mission, values and demonstrate commitment to mission, values and policies in the performance of daily duties.
- Adhere to the values that reflect the working culture at EPIC; honoring and modeling these values as duties are carried out on a daily basis.
- Communicate effectively by sharing concerns openly and honestly with appropriate staff members. Observe confidentiality in all dealings related to program, staff and families.
Pay Level:
$16.90 per hour (60days)

Conditions of Employment:
- Prior to employment, complete a Tb skin test by an EPIC approved healthcare provider at no cost to the employee.
- Must pass an initial and periodic background check through the Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF).
- Provide proof of MMR vaccination and/ or resistance to Measles, Mumps & Rubella.
- Current Food Handlers card
- Current First Aid/CPR card
- Complete Child Abuse and Neglect training and all other mandated training.
- CEO Approval.
