MacDonald-Miller not only constructs revolutionary mechanical systems but provides customer-centric ongoing services to ensure building owners, property managers, and tenants enjoy their experience in the built environment. One facet of MacDonald-Miller’s on-going services is Smart Building Services. 

Smart Building Services primary role is the deployment of data analytics systems and the management of the collected data. Leveraging analytics tools and industry experience MacDonald-Miller transforms data into digestible and actionable business intelligence for our customers. The Smart Building Analyst role acts as the primary facilitator of analysis and communication with existing and new customers. 

Requirements

Building Controls Sales Manager: This is where you come in.

We’re seeking a dynamic Building Controls Sales Manager to lead revenue growth, shape strategic direction, and drive the successful execution of sales initiatives for new construction, tenant improvement, and owner-direct projects. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in sales leadership, expertise in BAS and related fields such as smart building technologies, data analytics, and building energy performance initiatives, coupled with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing sales teams. Top deliverables in the first year to be a hero:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Design and execute sales strategies aligned with company goals and market trends.
    • Set revenue targets and long-term growth plans while identifying opportunities in the BAS and Smart Buildings sectors.
    • Represent the company at industry events to strengthen brand positioning.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing sales team, setting clear expectations and offering continuous feedback.
    • Recruit and retain top talent to build a world-class sales organization.
  • Revenue Growth:
    • Oversee the entire sales process, from lead generation to deal closure, driving consistent revenue growth.
    • Expand market share by pursuing new opportunities and collaborating with marketing to enhance lead generation efforts.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Develop and nurture relationships with key clients, ensuring exceptional service and customized solutions.
    • Educate clients on clean building technologies, energy efficiency, and sustainability practices to help them achieve their goals.
  • Collaboration:
    • Coordinate with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure seamless alignment and project delivery.
    • Partner with internal and regional leaders to drive companywide growth initiatives.
  • Financial Oversight:
    • Manage sales budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting while monitoring and optimizing performance metrics.
    • Ensure all activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and client requirements.

The Building Controls Sales Manager reports directly to George Pfeiffer, VP, Building Controls, and is part of a dynamic, collaborative team dedicated to advancing our growing business. This high-profile role offers the opportunity to engage with individuals across all levels and departments within the organization, contributing to impactful projects and initiatives.

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, sustainability, or a related field.
  • Industry Expertise: Over 10 years of experience in Building Controls and sales leadership, with a strong focus on smart buildings, BAS, or clean energy initiatives.

  • Leadership: A proven ability to lead cross-functional projects involving multiple technical and business stakeholders, achieving established outcomes.
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of emerging technologies such as cloud computing, IoT, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytics.
  • Team Leadership: A track record of inspiring and driving high-performing teams to exceed goals and deliver exceptional results.

Benefits

Compensation: $120,000 to $175,000 Annually
