We are currently full for the start of B Season 2024 (Pollock), but we are still interviewing for the waitlist.
Phoenix Processor Limited Partnership (PPLP) is seeking individuals to join our team as fish processors. This is an opportunity to start an exciting career aboard the M/V Excellence. If you possess a strong work ethic and believe you have what it takes to thrive in a fast-paced environment aboard a vessel, we encourage you to apply. Once you have completed the hiring process, you will be placed on the waitlist until a position opens up. At that time you will be boarding the vessel in Dutch Harbor, AK. When you join us, you will be expected to complete the season (likely sometime in October). Working at sea on a processing vessel requires a unique individual and can be quite challenging with difficult conditions such as long hours, separation from family and friends, tight living quarters, and inclement weather. This demanding workplace necessitates physical, mental, and emotional resilience.
Requirements
-You must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis, repetitively
- You will be working 12-16 hour shifts, 7 days a week in a fast paced environment with repetitive tasks
- You will be expected to work in a cold, wet environment
- Must be able to speak and read basic English
- Must follow all safety and quality policies and regulations
- You will be expected to work and live aboard a vessel for 90-120 days with minimal communications (there is Wi-Fi access available)
- Must be capable of boarding and exiting the vessel without assistance by climbing up or down a gangway or by using a Jacob's ladder.
Candidates should possess a high level of physical fitness and be capable of handling heavy items and engaging in physically-demanding tasks. The work environment in the factory can be wet and cold and the job expects endurance, repetitive lifting, agility, long periods of standing, teamwork, and self-discipline. The factory operates continuously, and production personnel will be assigned shifts lasting 12-16 hours, seven days a week throughout the duration of the contract. It is essential that all team members are able to follow instructions and work together effectively. Basic English is required to understand safety and emergency guidelines.
You are required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test and also participate in our random drug testing program as mandated by the US Coast Guard.
Benefits
You will receive hourly wages with overtime pay, which will be issued twice monthly. In addition, upon completion of the season, you will receive a case rate bonus. There is also the possibility of performance-based raises. Case rate bonuses will be paid 10 business days after the end of the season. Housing and meals will be provided at no cost.
After one year of employment, you will be eligible to enroll in our health insurance and 401k plans.
Starting Pay: $3,500.00 - $5,000.00 per month
