Full Job Description

EPIC Early Learning is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Start Assistant Center Manager to join our team. As a private, nonprofit organization, EPIC has been providing early childhood educational services to children and families in Central Washington for over 35 years. Our mission is to empower children to reach their full potential through nurturing relationships, engaging experiences, and high-quality education.

As a Head Start Assistant Center Manager, you will work closely with the Center Manager to oversee the implementation and delivery of the Head Start program at our centers. You will support the Center Manager and Family Health Facilitator in ensuring that the program meets the needs of children and families, complies with program requirements, and maintains a safe and positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Center Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Head Start program at the center
  • Support the Center Manager in ensuring compliance with Head Start program requirements, state licensing regulations, USDA requirements, and agency policies and procedures
  • Maintain safe and sanitary facilities by ensuring that facilities are staffed with adequate and qualified employees, staff-to-child ratios are maintained at all times, child abuse and neglect policies are enforced and staff are trained to child supervision guidelines and licensing requirements.  
  • Collaborate with key community partners including ESD 105, school districts, the Department of Youth, Children and Families, health agencies and others.
  • Coordinate the sites’ ERSEA content area to include child eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance as defined by Head Start requirements and in accordance with the work plan.
  • Help coordinate with community partners and agencies to provide comprehensive support services for children and families, including health, nutrition, and family engagement
  • Build positive relationships with parents and actively involve them in their child's education and development
  • Assist in monitoring program performance and outcomes, and contribute to strategies for continuous improvement
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of program activities and outcomes
  • Support a culture of safety within our centers, playgrounds, buses, and anywhere that children may be present, and promote EPIC's culture of "See Something, Say Something"

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field OR 45 ECE Credits equivalent combination of experience and/ or training in Early Childhood Education which demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Meet the State of Washington minimum licensing requirement for a center director
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in early childhood education
  • Familiarity with Head Start program requirements, state licensing regulations, and best practices in early childhood education
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry
  • Experience working with diverse populations and low-income families
  • Bilingual/ Bicultural (English/Spanish) required
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the service area as needed
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License, own transportation, and required auto insurance

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education

Pay Level

$26.00-$28.00 Hourly Management (Non-Exempt)

Conditions of Employment:

  1. Prior to employment, complete a pre-employment drug screen, TB skin test by an EPIC approved healthcare provider at no cost to the employee.
  2. Pre-employment basic physical by an EPIC healthcare provider (obtain within (30) days of employment and no cost to the employee).
  3. Must pass an initial and periodic background check through the Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF).
  4. Provide proof of MMR vaccination and/ or resistance to Measles, Mumps & Rubella.
  5. Current Food Handlers card (obtain the training within 30 days of employment).
  6. Current First Aid/CPR card (obtain within 30 days of employment).
  7. Complete Child Abuse and Neglect training and all other mandated training.
  8. CEO Approval.
