Job Description:
NuvoLogic Consulting is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Tester to join a Scrum team supporting the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Office of Disaster Recovery & Resilience (ODR&R). This role involves ensuring that the advanced data analytics tools and GIS products being developed, as well as enhancements to existing products, meet the highest quality standards and are reliable, accurate, and aligned with the project’s goals to support disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.
The QA Tester will collaborate closely with the Scrum Team, including developers, data scientists, product owners, and disaster subject matter experts, to define test strategies, execute test plans, identify defects, and ensure that products are thoroughly tested and compliant with all requirements. The tester will play a key role in safeguarding the quality of both the functional and technical components of the product lifecycle, from user story review to final product release.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work closely with the Scrum team to understand product requirements and develop comprehensive test plans and strategies. Ensure alignment with the objectives of the data analytics and GIS tools being developed to support SBA's disaster management efforts.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT) on various data analytics tools, GIS products, and associated software. Validate that products meet business and technical requirements.
- Implement and maintain automated test scripts using appropriate testing frameworks to streamline testing processes and ensure continuous integration and deployment within the Agile environment.
- Identify, document, and track defects through resolution using bug tracking software such as JIRA.
- Collaborate with developers and data scientists to troubleshoot and resolve issues, retesting fixes to ensure defects have been addressed.
- Provide regular reports on testing progress, including test coverage, defect rates, and key metrics to stakeholders. Communicate testing results and raise any critical risks or issues to the Scrum team and product owner.
- Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Provide testing updates and ensure that quality assurance considerations are integrated into all stages of the product development lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain detailed test documentation, including test cases, test scripts, and test summaries. Follow industry best practices for testing and quality assurance to ensure the highest level of product quality.
- Execute performance and security tests where applicable, ensuring the resilience and security of data analytics products, especially when handling sensitive disaster-related data.
- Continuously assess the testing process and recommend improvements to ensure efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness in delivering high-quality products.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance testing, preferably in an Agile or Scrum environment.
- Experience testing data analytics tools, GIS products, or similar software solutions is a plus.
- Experience with manual and automated testing processes and tools.
- Familiarity with bug tracking and test management tools like JIRA.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have a valid Green Card to work.
Required Skills:
- Experience working with cross-functional teams
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Proficiency in writing detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test cases and test scripts.
- Knowledge of SQL and databases for data validation and testing purposes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within an Agile Scrum team.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or PowerBI, and GIS tools like ArcGIS Hub or AGOL.
- ISTQB or similar testing certification is preferred.
- Public sector or disaster management experience is a plus.
- Experience and familiarity with SBA IT systems and infrastructure is a strong plus.
