SCOPE Recruiting is on the lookout for an experienced Senior Purchasing Agent - Level 4 to join their client's team. In this crucial position, you will lead the procurement process for high-value goods and services, ensuring that the organization maintains efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Your strategic approach and expertise will drive the development of supplier relationships and optimized purchasing strategies, contributing to the overall success of our operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, a detailed understanding of procurement processes, and demonstrate the ability to manage complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the procurement process for high-value materials, negotiating contracts, and monitoring supplier performance.
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with organizational goals while managing risk.
  • Analyze market trends, forecasts, and supplier capabilities to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define procurement needs and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Maintain compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and best procurement practices.
  • Mentor and train junior purchasing agents, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

Requirements

    • Experience: 9 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5–7 years in roles that involve sourcing, negotiating, and managing contracts for data center, construction, or related large-scale projects.
    • Target Industries: Data center construction, engineering, manufacturing, or specialty trade subcontracting.
    • Product and Vendor Knowledge: Experience sourcing Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), construction subcontractors, specialty trade subcontractors, and fabricators.
    • Project Management Familiarity: Proven experience in project-based procurement for high-value projects, including understanding of contract documents, bills of material, and specifications.
    • Leadership and Program Management: Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage high-visibility, high-value programs. Skilled at acting as a liaison between Procurement and internal departments such as Engineering, Sales, and the Executive Team.
    • Procurement Planning and Implementation: Experience in developing and executing comprehensive procurement plans, including RFP creation, bid analysis, vendor matrix development, and post-award plan implementation.
    • Negotiation and Contract Management: Strong negotiating abilities, especially with OEMs and specialty trade subcontractors, to ensure optimal pricing and terms for high-stakes projects.
    • Market Intelligence and Analysis: Ability to capture and interpret market data to assess pricing trends, lead times, and best-value opportunities, adjusting procurement strategies based on current market conditions.
    • Technical Knowledge and Contractual Compliance: Proficient in reading and interpreting technical specifications, project schedules, contract documents, and scopes of work to ensure alignment with project goals.
    • Technology Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Microsoft Excel, with familiarity in accounting principles to ensure budget compliance and accurate reporting.
    • High-Stress Environment Adaptability: Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure environments, maintaining a high level of productivity and accuracy.
    • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities to convey information across multiple internal departments and with external vendors.
    • Analytical Skills and Attention to Detail: Demonstrates a high level of detail orientation and analytical capability to support procurement decisions, contract reviews, and compliance monitoring.
    • Collaborative Teamwork: Proven ability to work well within a team-oriented environment, coordinating closely with core Program/Project teams and internal stakeholders.
    • Time Management: Capable of managing time effectively across multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and ensuring timely procurement execution.
