Senior Director, Research

PLUS Communications is a full-service communications firm based in Arlington, Virginia. We are looking for an experienced Senior Director to join the Research team. PLUS Communications leads award-winning campaigns integrating public affairs, corporate communications, digital, advertising, and media buying. PLUS means more!

This position will be responsible for: 

• Manage day-to-day workflow of a team of 8 researchers, ensuring deadlines are met and work products are consistent.
• Work directly with clients to understand needs before a project begins, provide updates as needed and present findings.
• Conceptualize and implement plans for complex and sometimes loosely-defined research projects for internal colleagues and external clients.
• Help train and develop entry and mid-level staff.
• Research services and products include:
• In-depth research books on issues, organizations, and individuals
• Ad hoc and rapid response backgrounders
• Vetting of individuals and organizations for advertising
• Media analysis 
• Real-time monitoring for clients, issues and items of interest to clients

Requirements

• 10 - 12 years of relevant experience in political & opposition research.
• Experience managing both projects and people.
• Previous experience in RNC-style formatting is a plus and a keen eye for detail.
• Strong research, writing and editing skills.
• Experience using databases (LexisNexis, IQ Media, Critical Mention, FEC, Bloomberg Gov) and research methods.
• Past experience in FOIA and state-level information requests.
• High understanding of local, regional and national politics and current events.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work as part of a team.
• Able to multitask high priority projects on tight deadlines.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Adaptive and flexible to changing needs of the workplace.
