ROGERCO, Inc. delivers advanced technology, cybersecurity, communications advisory, and multi-media services and is looking for a seasoned Communications Strategist to coordinate the executive planning and strategy for one of our Navy clients. As a leader on this strategic communications team, this person will work in a highly visible and fast-paced environment, focusing on communications strategy and alignment, media engagement, research, message development, and delivery. A successful candidate is creative, fast on their feet, and self-driven. Candidates should also have an active secret security clearance and previous experience with communications in federal government organizations, specifically DoD. Applicants should live in the greater Washington, DC area with the ability to work on client site in Arlington, VA, as requested by the customer.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Support communication planning, strategy, and alignment efforts of a headquarters-level, issue-specific office
- Provide communication integration and internal Department of the Navy message alignment as it relates to key issues of importance
- Maintain project scope, timeline and deliverable schedule, and manage delivery according to the project management and communications plans set forth by the team
- Conduct research and coordinate with appropriate stakeholders to produce products that are designed to provide DoD leaders, communicators, and members of Congress with information about programs of utmost importance
- Conceptualize, design and create informational materials to support communication plans, including, but not limited to: web-based materials, blogs, fact sheets, training materials and vignettes
- Collaborate with many separate but related programs within DON to create an overarching strategic communications plan, helping each individual program meet its communications objectives while aligning messaging to larger Navy priorities
- Assist with responding to media queries by coordinating with the appropriate action officer to track queries from receipt to completion
Qualifications:
- Leadership experience, strong organizational skills and rigorous attention to detail. Candidates should be well-versed in managing people, intellectually curious, excellent problem solvers, and can reflect client priorities and interests in work products.
- Bachelor’s Degree recipient in communications, public relations, or marketing.
- 9 years of public affairs, public relations, brand development, communication planning and/or assessment experience, including but not limited to: developing public affairs and/or communication plans based on research and analysis, identifying key audiences, drafting messaging, designing and overseeing implementation of tactics, measuring impacts, providing strategic guidance and counsel, and producing briefings for leadership.
