We are seeking a Buyer 3 to join our team at our Richmond, VA location.
Key Functions:
In this role, you will exercise independent judgment in the development, negotiation, and administration of purchase orders of moderate to high dollar value, risk, and complexity, consistent with client requirements and procurement policies/procedures. Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating complex solicitations, supporting proposals, conducting price and cost analysis, negotiating price/cost and related terms, and other subcontract provisions.
- Working closely with program staff to ensure compliance with required performance standards.
- Recommending and implementing improvements to procurement processes and procedures.
- Providing technical direction, training, and mentorship to less experienced staff.
- Managing moderate to high-complexity assignments, requiring analysis of routine and non-routine data.
- Contributing to the development and achievement of organizational goals, including schedules and financial objectives.
- Interacting with procurement staff, peer groups, suppliers, internal customers, and senior management as needed.
- Handling purchase orders valued at up to $100,000 and possibly higher-value POs with oversight from senior staff.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 to 7 years of experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- Experience as a buyer in the electrical power distribution industry or for a contractor/distributor.
- Experience with executing $100,000 purchase orders.
- Strong knowledge and experience in performing non-routine assignments with minimal assistance.
- Proven ability to determine methods and procedures for non-routine assignments and provide guidance to others.
- In-depth understanding of business principles such as procurement, business and contract law, finance, and accounting.
- Extensive experience in procurement and related functions, with a particular emphasis on negotiation and contract administration.
Preferred Industry Expertise:
- Familiarity with companies such as Eaton (Copper Power Systems), Asea Brown Boveri - ABB, Siemens, Schneider Electric, General Electric Grid Solutions, Mitsubishi Electric, Hitachi Energy, and electrical distributors like Graybar, Rexel, Capital Electric, Electrical Equipment Company (EECO), Crescent Electric, and City Electric Supply.
