At Living Optics, we build hyperspectral cameras. Our devices access information invisible to human eyes and conventional cameras, enabling discoveries ranging from plastics sorting to greenhouse gas detection and tumour detection.
Our unique approach to hyperspectral imaging combines patented optical methods, built-from-scratch neural networks, and a small dose of pure maths. We’re well on our way to radically democratise and miniaturise hyperspectral systems, which have long been confined to well-funded research labs.
The Role
Through continued growth, Living Optics are seeking a Sales Specialist in the US. You will have the drive to find new customers, assess their needs, get our product into their hands and support their success.
As our customer base and sales pipeline in the US continue to grow, we're expanding our team in the Virginia Area. You will take on the pioneering role of driving sales, laying the groundwork for a revolution in hyperspectral imaging.
Your role in driving sales includes finding potential customers, assessing their needs, conducting product demonstrations, and working alongside our Field Applications Engineers to set up proof of concept trials, and finalizing deals. While you own the sharp end of customer prospecting and qualification, you will have the full and proactive support of our technical and marketing teams. We will all be cheering you on!
Responsibilities
- Generating sales leads directly through personal networking and indirectly using marketing-led campaigns and events to ensure there’s aways a steady stream of potential opportunities.
- Engaging with prospective customers to understand their pain points and needs, qualifying the right solution fit and approach.
- Showcasing of our products and demonstration of our capability to bring value to a customer’s application, at times working with our technical team to develop solutions.
- Closing deals and ensuring the company achieves regional sales targets.
- Ensuring customers success and acting as local liaison for coordinating activities including training, support and project delivery.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
- A technical/engineering/scientific background that brings credibility to understand customer needs and engage in technical discussion.
- Experience in a commercial environment, preferably interacting with customers.
- Strong interpersonal skills and enjoys engaging with others at all levels of seniority inside and outside the company.
- Highly effective operating remotely whilst also highly motivated to get to meetings and events in person.
- Proactive and autonomous, and able to identify and solve day-to-day issues.
- Self-motivated and thrives on multi-tasking, exercises sound judgement in operating with resources appropriate to the need and business scale.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience in selling imaging and computer vision products such as hyperspectral, machine vision or scientific cameras.
- Experience working in or with a technical team from pre-sales technical engagement to post-sales support and solution provision.
- Network and understanding of the opportunity for computer vision in food/agriculture, security, healthcare.
- Contacts with computer vision developers in industry and universities.
- Working with distributors and sales representatives.
- Familiarity with CRM tools.
- Experience in computer vision, imaging tools and programming in python.
- Committed to continuous learning and adapting to the ever-evolving opportunity landscape in a fast-paced startup environment.

Interview process:
- 3 stages. 1st screening with recruiter or technical team member, 2nd interview with senior sales/BD team member, and final co-founder/chairman interview.
