Full Job Description

Northstrat is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team. As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products through thorough testing, identifying defects, and implementing effective QA processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts to ensure software products meet quality standards.
  • Identify defects and track issues to resolution, ensuring defects are properly documented and retested.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze functional documentation, and provide feedback to the development team.
  • Design and implement automated test scripts to streamline testing processes.
  • Create and maintain test data and test environments.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging testing tools and technologies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the Quality Assurance team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer or similar role.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be able to obtain a Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligible
  • Experience in manual and automated testing of web applications.
  • Proficiency in test planning, design, and execution.
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Experience in designing and implementing automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, Appium, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with Git and JIRA is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SQL and ability to write and execute SQL queries is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience providing commercial communication services to government agency or Department of Defense customers. 
  • Experience in commercial space mesh and Business to Government (B2G) service offerings. 
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense spaced-based internet service provider customer support. 
  • Familiar with system architectures that leverage Amazon infrastructure and other Amazon services.

Flex Time

Northstrat does not mandate specific working hours. Although project requirements may dictate schedules, a Northstrat employee is only required to work an average of 8 hours per weekday over the course of a month. For example: John worked 12 hours on June 1st to meet a project deadline. On June 15th, John only worked 4 hours because he left early for a long weekend. John’s IBA was not debited for time off because flex time allowed him to carry over those 4 hours from June 1st.

IBA Benefits accrue each month in the amount equivalent to 50% of the employee’s monthly compensation rate. That is, the effective dollar amount of this accrual is in addition to an employee’s salary.

Profit Sharing Plan (PSP)

The PSP is a qualified retirement plan that Northstrat funds semi-annually on the employee’s behalf through the IBA in the amount equivalent to 25% (up to the IRS contribution limit) of the employee’s compensation. That is, of the 50% accrual in the IBA, half of the amount accrued is applied to the PSP.

Stock Options

Because Northstrat is an employee-owned company, all new employees are offered stock options. Employees have the opportunity to receive additional stock options based on accomplishment of individual performance goals. Stock owners elect the Board of Directors and are directly impacted by the success of the company.
