Aspire Medical Staffing is looking for a Pharmacy Technician to provide services at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) located in Portsmouth, Virginia
Hours: Pharmacy is open 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week, 365 days a year, including all Federal Holidays.
Compensation Rates:
- Base: $18.82/hour-take home
- Health & Welfare: $4.23/hour --allocated for medical, dental, vision, or as cash in lieu of benefits
- Total Compensation: (Base + H&W)= $23.05/hour
- PTO: 80 hours annually (accrued per pay period)
- Sick Leave: 56 hours annually (accrued per pay period)
- Federal Holidays Paid
Qualifications:
- Degree: Certificate.
- Education: Graduate from a formal pharmacy technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) OR a formal pharmacy technician program (i.e., technical, hospital, or retail-based program) OR a formal medical services training program of the United States Military.
- Certification: Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) AND Basic Life Support _ (BLS)_ hands on course through American Heart Association.
- Experience: One consecutive year of experience as a pharmacy technician within the last 2 years.
Duties:
- Operate and manipulate automated systems such as CHCS, AHLTA, ADS, Essentris, MHS Genesis, and Clinical Information System (CIS), participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions, as prescribed by the Commander.
- Perform a full range of pharmacy technician procedures.
- Perform pharmaceutical dispensing duties including filling new outpatient prescriptions, refilling prescriptions, and entering orders into databases.
- Perform information consultation duties including supporting new and refill prescriptions, supporting patient requests, supporting physician’s requests, monitoring for drug interactions, and reporting adverse drug reactions.
- Perform quality improvement duties including performing drug storage inspection, reviewing expired supplies, and producing error and workload reports and documentation.
- Perform supply process duties including placing new orders, stocking/restocking shelves, inventory maintenance, producing not in stock reports.
