Requirements

Summary

Assists in managing inventory and fulfilling customer orders. Operates forklift in order to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move engineered wood products as order requires or supervisor assigns. Operates chain saw and other tools to cut and build packages of engineered wood products to customer order specifications. Typical working hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 12:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

Essential Forklift Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Inspect and fuel forklift daily
  • Pickup paperwork for the assigned truck from the office & verify the delivery tickets are in the order the truck is routed to travel
  • Pull material for orders
  • Take finished orders to proper loading zones
  • Rotate inventory
  • Check, measure, and verify all orders in loading zones for accuracy, including material, quantity, length, customer information and staging in correct zone
  • Inform supervisors of quality issues
  • Process return documentation, including notation of damaged/weathered material and tallying discrepancies on the return sheet for all departments
  • Procure, read, and verify manifests for quality assessment before loading
  • Unload trucks and rail cars
  • Load Customer Pick Ups
  • Maintain and inspect chainsaws and other tools
  • Read and understand order and materials
  • Pull material for orders (LVL, I-Joist, Rimboard, etc.)
  • Measure, mark, and cut material
  • Build, band and distinguish pack by hand or with forklift
  • Label packs with appropriate customer information
  • Replace banding in carts when empty
  • Set sticks, load material and strap down the load
  • Inspect the load for loose sticks/blocks and ensure load is DOT compliant related to length, height and belly straps
  • Inspect the zone for any missed material, loose sticks or banding and handle accordingly
  • Load all hangers in the side box
  • General Housekeeping and Office related tasks
  • Sweep and maintain yard/warehouse
  • Pick up litter, lumber waste, cardboard and other waste and dispose of in proper receptacle(s)
  • Inventory Cycle counting, maintenance and control
  • Order processing and documentation
  • Filing (electronic and manual)
  • Photocopying
  • Maintain clean, safe work environment
  • Miscellaneous projects as assigned

Education and/or Experience

Knowledge of building lumber packs and experience in a lumber/steel yard and/or loading and unloading trucks is preferred, but not required.
