Installer/Service Technician

C & B Equipment, a progressive family-owned company that has grown over 30 years to include John Deere Ag, material handling and power sports locations has an opening for a Service Technician/Installer at one of its material handling locations in Lynchburg, VA.

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of building and construction principals common in factory and warehouse application.  Typical installations include but are not limited to Industrial overhead doors, loading docks, trailer restraints, product racks, guard rails, freight lifts, overhead cranes, pre-fab office cubicles, ventilation systems and so on.  Products, buildings and applications differ case by case; the candidate must be able to choose best solutions for each application as it pertains to safety, functionality and performance working within the guide lines of the manufacturer’s installation instructions.  The Installer/Mechanic will also trouble shoot, repair and perform periodic maintenance on new and existing equipment.  Basic welding skills, the ability to comprehend wiring schematics, the ability to read and follow manufacturers’ troubleshooting and installation procedures are critical to this position. Legible hand writing and carpentry skills are a plus.  Must provide own tools and safety gear such as safety toe shoes and OSHA approved prescription glasses, if applicable.  This is safety sensitive position and requires a urine drug screen.  Overtime, weekend work, and some overnight travel will be required at times.

Requirements

• Mechanical aptitude.

•  Ability to read electrical schematics.

•  Basic welding and wiring.

• Capable of working from platform lifts and other equipment high in the air; ability to operate a forklift.

• Carpentry skills helpful.

• Ability to use power hand tools.

• Must furnish own tools, personal safety footgear and OSHA approved prescription safety glasses, if applicable.

• Must have valid drivers' license with good driving record and be insurable.

• Basic business math and legible handwriting.

• Self-motivated and driven for success

• Must have valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
