Full Job Description
TechOp Solutions is seeking an experienced Editor with strong communication skills and a background in working within government environments. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, efficient, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced setting. This role requires proficiency in supporting teams by editing and refining a variety of documents, ensuring clarity, consistency, and adherence to government standards. The Editor will play a key role in analyzing editorial needs, developing practical solutions, and contributing to the continuous improvement of document quality and compliance with government standards.
- Review and edit technical documents for grammar, punctuation, style, clarity, and technical accuracy
- Initiate drafts and/or edit responses to letters, memos, briefing memoranda, and other executive correspondence using template language and adhering to standard formatting styles.
- Proofread and edit a variety of documents, including vague, lengthy, and complex materials, revising content to meet established formatting and style standards.
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely completion while maintaining quality standards.
- Assist in developing new technical documentation and templates as needed.
- Administrative Support
- Ensure all documents are consistent in structure, terminology, and formatting, following agency style guides and standards.
- Verify that technical documents meet regulatory and compliance standards.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from and accredited college (a degree in English, Technical Writing or Communications is preferred).
- 3-10 years of experience as a technical editor or in a related role.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, plus 3 years of work experience.
- Excellent command of English, with strong grammar, punctuation, and syntax skills.
- Proficiency in using editing tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, or XML-based documentation software.
- Ability to interpret complex information and simplify it for a broad audience.
- Experience drafting and editing executive-level correspondence such as letters, memos, and briefing documents.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with technical writing principles, style guides (e.g., APA, Chicago, IEEE), and standards.
