Overview:

[solidcore] is looking for a results-oriented, tech-savvy Director of Payroll to lead our payroll department.  This is an incredible opportunity to lead all aspects of payroll processing operations, tax compliance and reporting, and larger cross-functional initiatives impacting payroll. The role requires a strategic mindset to scale processes as we grow and continuously improve systems and team performance.

Located in vibrant Arlington, VA this is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing organization with a desire to be the leader in the studio fitness space.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Vice President of Accounting & Controller 
  • Oversee bimonthly payroll processing and ensure accurate payment for all employees across all pay types including: hourly, salaried, bonus, variable pay, etc.
  • Manage the payroll team and facilitate training and development
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, multi-state and local payroll laws, regulations, and taxes
  • Receive, organize, and respond to all payroll related notices
  • Supervise the timely response to all employee inquiries 
  • Represent the payroll department during biweekly and monthly business reviews
  • Take ownership of payroll-related journal entries, monthly reconciliations, and ensure accurate general ledger reporting
  • Take ownership of all payroll audit requests, both financial statements and 401(k)
  • Lead the migration and implementation of a new payroll system, ensuring a smooth and timely transition
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements within payroll and tax reporting to reduce manual errors and inefficiencies

Requirements


Qualifications

  • Passion for fitness, wellness, and the [solidcore] brand
  • 8+ years of payroll experience with a high-growth lifestyle or consumer brand
  • 3-5 years of direct people management experience 
  • Experience managing payroll for a multi-state, multi-EIN company
  • Expert communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient with large sets of data and data tools (e.g., Alteryx and Excel)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software, with experience working closely with accounting and finance teams
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with People (HR) and Operations
  • Ability to work under pressure – someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hyper-growth  environment
