Full Job Description

As the Director of Finance at ARETUM, you will be instrumental in driving financial strategy, overseeing financial operations, and ensuring the organization achieves its financial objectives while maintaining compliance with federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Bring in best practices to support the company’s finance plans, policies, and procedures. Interact with all functional and line organizations and have a seat at the table in decision-making processes to help us become a superior company in our industry.
  • Develop and manage a workforce of financial control and project control professionals, as well as the group-level financial planning and analysis team, to meet monthly closing deadlines. Provide effective staff training and oversight, including:
  • Supporting the monthly financial close, including revenue recognition, cost and expense reporting, P&L, balance sheet (receivables, backlog, etc.) in accordance with GAAP.
  • Supporting responses to external and internal audit requests, including annual incurred cost submissions.
  • Leading Line Organization reporting to support annual budgets (sales and indirect), monthly forecasts, and associated financial analysis.
  • Maintaining an efficient cost control system to monitor and control contractual direct costs and associated indirect costs, including margin analysis.
  • Prepare reports and present findings and recommendations to management. Monitor and report on business performance at multiple levels and in response to ad-hoc reporting. Proactively communicate actual or potential trends and material events.
  • Execute and strengthen internal controls, business practices, and financial infrastructure.
  • Lead efforts to develop and improve operations through efficient and effective integrated processes to meet requirements.
  • Oversee the contract setup department to ensure contracts are accurately trackable and billable.
  • Work closely with peers across the corporation to implement company-wide initiatives. Participate in forums to improve systems and financial performance.
  • Understand and appreciate the competitive landscape in our sector markets of DHS, DOD, and/or Fed/Civ to support our bidding practices.
  • Run the FP&A organization, including establishing competitive rates, managing DCAA audit reporting, yearly budget submissions, Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS), and monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting requirements. Create the monthly reporting package for the Sector and Corporation reporting.
  • Create periodic and ad-hoc financial presentations for the CEO, CAO, and CFO to present to the Company’s Board of Directors.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis on projects, profitability, pipeline, and growth projections as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience with financial planning, analysis, and operations in a government contractor environment, preferably in services companies.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with solid project planning and people management experience.
  • Ability to proactively problem-solve.
  • Strong team player who believes in communication and collaboration.
  • Experience with DCAA compliance in a Government Contractor setting.
  • Experience working with Program Managers, Division Leads, and senior executive leadership.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with FAR compliance, CAS compliance, and GAAP compliance.
  • Understanding of financial statements and ability to interpret and evaluate profit and loss statements and balance sheets relevant to operations.
  • Proficiency in Unanet.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
