Building Automation Specialist - Subject Matter Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Automation System (BAS) Subject Matter Expert to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in BAS design and project management, with the ability to oversee installation, replacement, and upgrade projects. This role demands a professional with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the capability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.

Responsibilities:

• Manage BAS repair, upgrade, and replacement projects
• Conduct BAS design reviews
• Develop scopes of work
• Prepare cost estimates and review proposals
• Oversee project quality assurance and control (QA/QC)
• Develop design and project standards
• Provide training to Department BAS stakeholders, management, and executive leadership
• Communicate effectively with vendors, stakeholders, management, and customers
• Develop and justify project budgets

Requirements

• Minimum of five years of BAS design and/or project management experience

• Secret Clearance Required
• BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or other Engineering degree preferred (experience can substitute for a degree); high school diploma required
• OEM certification(s) in any BAS - Tridium Niagara, JCI, Delta, and/or Siemens preferred
• Familiarity with LonWorks, BACnet, Division 230900 specifications
• Familiarity with standard industry code and requirements such as ASHRAE, NFPA, International Building Code (IBC) (to lesser degrees, UFGS)
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex BAS issues
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Self-starter attitude with ability to work independently and in a team
• Ability to travel up to 25% internationally
• Experience in writing or reviewing statements of work, preparing cost estimates or proposals, quality assurance and control, or commissioning for BAS
• Strong presentation and training skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced certifications such as LEED AP, PMP, or CEM
• Proficiency with BAS-specific software (AutoCAD, Tridium, Siemens Desigo, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure)
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles related to BAS
• Familiarity with government regulations and standards related to building automation and energy management
• Experience managing relationships with BAS vendors and contractors
• Proficiency in developing detailed project documentation and technical manuals
• Ability to respond to and manage BAS-related technical emergencies
