Your Impact:
As a Technical Sales Manager at MSI, you’ll be at the forefront of driving our company’s growth and ensuring client satisfaction. Your role will involve actively seeking out new customers and assessing their needs to determine if their products can be manufactured by MSI, guiding them from initial conversations to project completion. With your technical expertise, you’ll help clients understand how our capabilities can meet their manufacturing requirements.
In addition, you'll serve as an account manager, nurturing relationships and handling client documentation to ensure a smooth experience throughout the sales process. You’ll also collaborate closely with internal teams, including marketing, engineering, and operations, to facilitate effective project management and ensure alignment on client expectations. By building strong connections and enhancing our presence in the market, you'll contribute to MSI's growth and strengthen our reputation for delivering innovative solutions.
Your Role:
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
- Proactively engage with prospective clients, presenting MSI’s value proposition and assessing manufacturability of their products.
- Develop and maintain positive, long-term relationships with clients, ensuring consistent communication and customer satisfaction through surveys and other touchpoints.
- Respond to sales inquiries in a timely manner and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales process.
- Act as an account manager, handling client documentation, including quotations, agreements, and purchase orders.
Sales & Market Strategy
- Perform market analysis to identify qualified sales leads and drive the closing of new business opportunities.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to grow the customer base and promote MSI’s offerings.
- Stay updated on industry trends and competitor analysis, identifying new markets and business opportunities.
- Create and maintain sales forecasts, budget plans, and strategic sales improvements to meet growth goals.
Technical Expertise & Solution Development
- Lead technical presentations that demonstrate MSI’s capabilities, focusing on problem-solving and cost-effective manufacturing solutions.
- Understand MSI processes and capabilities, acquiring necessary customer specifications to provide accurate and competitive quotes.
- Negotiate pricing and favorable payment terms with customers before finalizing sales agreements.
Internal Collaboration & Project Management
- Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, engineering, operations) to ensure smooth onboarding of new customers and alignment on project requirements.
- Manage sales projects from initiation to closure, ensuring alignment with MSI’s capabilities and customer expectations.
- Provide feedback and guidance to internal teams for continuous process improvements and customer satisfaction.
Sales Operations & Reporting
- Maintain and update the CRM system, tracking all sales-related activities, communications, and client information.
- Report on sales activities, trends, and performance metrics to internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager on maintaining marketing databases, email campaigns, and developing marketing materials.
Administrative & Travel Requirements
- Prepare department purchase orders for sales or marketing-related expenses (e.g., promotional items, marketing materials, travel).
- Keep Outlook calendar updated and participate in meetings as scheduled.
- Travel as necessary to meet customer needs and attend industry events.
Required Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in technical sales, specifically manufacturing or a related industry
- Proven ability to lead a sales process from prospecting through closing, particularly with new customers.
- Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment including MSI’s equipment, production processes, and value proposition.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify and present complex technical information to clients.
- Proven ability to assess the feasibility of manufacturing customer products, including understanding product specifications and production requirements.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to maintain CRM systems and manage multiple accounts.
- Experience with sales forecasting, budgeting, and market analysis.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with marketing teams on campaign development, social media, and content creation.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel as needed to meet customer demands.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
