Program Assistant (Kitchen/Activities) - 37.5 hours/week

Monday-Friday 7:45A-3:45P

The Gathering Place (Brattleboro Area Adult Day Services) is an Adult Day program serving Windham County Vermont. We serve adults with a wide range of physical and cognitive abilities. Our participants enjoy music, arts, games, exercise, and companionship - just to name a few!

We are currently seeking a reliable and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Program Assistant. This is a blended role with primary responsibility for kitchen and meal service as well assisting participants with activities & personal care. Entry-level candidates with a sincere interest in working with older adults and adult with disabilities welcomed. Teamwork and flexibility will be a key requirement in this role.

Responsibilities include:

• Receive meals from vendor, record temperatures and ensure appropriate number of meals are delivered; serve meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines.
• Ensure participants with special dietary needs or restrictions (allergies, texture, cut ups, etc.) are served appropriately
• Assist participants with personal care needs during non-meal service times which may include toileting and showering, and other activities of daily living.
• Participates in activities and engages with participants.
• Cleaning and sanitizing dishes and food preparation and dining areas. Assist with laundry.
• Documentation of meal counts, meal ordering, food and appliance temperatures..
• Ordering and stocking food and supplies as needed.
• May document participant vital signs, administration of medication record, individual exercise or physical therapy regimens, ADL’s, and monthly participant goals.
• Works independently
• ServSafe required (may be obtained after hire).

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:45AM-3:45PM. No weekends or evenings; we are closed major holidays.

Rate of pay: $17+ depending on experience and qualifications.

Benefits include up to 15 days paid time off in the first year (accrued based on hours worked) plus 7 paid holidays and dental, vision, life, LTD and AD&D coverage at no cost (employee only), 403(b) match after one year.

Requirements

• Prior food service, dietary/nutrition, and/or PCA experience helpful and preferred, but not required as is one or more years’ experience working with elders or adults with disabilities
• Ability to prioritize assignments
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Basic understanding of nutrition and special dietary needs.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• ServSafe required (may be obtained post hire).
• Ability to lift up to thirty pounds
• Positive and respectful communication
