Full Job Description
Middlebury College is hiring two liaisons who actively participates in both front of the house (FOH) and back of the house (BOH) operations for Tavern on the Tee and Snowbowl food service locations. Responsible for providing exceptional customer service, processing customer sales, and food preparation.
These positions are full time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $19.63-21.68 per hour plus shift differential for eligible hours. Candidates who are only interested in seasonal, non-benefit positions should indicate that on their application or early on in the hiring process.
- Evening Differential 6:00pm to Midnight is an additional $1.50 per hour
- Weekend Differential is an additional $1.00 per hour

Core Responsibilities:
- Accurately process food and beverage sales using cash registers, scanners, or wireless equipment.
- Provide exceptional customer service and interact with customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Work closely with and train part-time employees throughout the academic year, enforcing all cashier policies and procedures.
- Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment. Includes, but is not limited to, cutting vegetables, meats and cheeses, oven and toaster work
- Understand and comply consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures. Ensure safety and sanitary standards for BOH and FOH areas, proper food storage and handling procedures to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment, including, fill out temp and time sheets, follow cleaning checklists.
- Clean, sweeps and mops work areas, including counters, floors, dishes and related equipment as needed during the day and after each shift to maintain an orderly kitchen.
- Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors with effective time management skills
Requirements
- Demonstrates good communication skills; and the ability to follow instructions and procedures and participate in a team environment. Must be Serve Safe certified or successfully pass the exam after hire date.
- Must gain and maintain VT DLC (Department of Liquor Control) certification and Middlebury College drivers license
- Demonstrates the willingness to learn and participate in all aspects of FOH and BOH operations.
- Knowledge of point of sale and cash handling and prior customer service experience preferred
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Must be able to stand for up to 4 hours continuously, as well as frequent bending and overhead reaching with twisting motions. Must be able to lift 10-20# numerous times during the day and up to 50lbs several times each day, must be able to push and pull up to 70lbs frequently. Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
