Full Job Description

The Associate Director of Admissions is a senior member of the Admissions staff and contributes their experience, leadership, management, insight, and vision to student recruitment. In addition to supporting the Admissions Office in identifying, expanding, attracting and enrolling an academically talented and diverse student body, the Associate Director manages a strategic portfolio that includes primary responsibility for communications and marketing and supervision of emerging staff professionals.

This is a full time, benefits eligible, salaried position with a hiring range of $72,480 - 90,594 per year.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the senior institutional lead on marketing and communications efforts including social media, print, web and strategic recruitment outreach efforts.
  • Assist the Dean of Admissions with historical data and analysis on trends, insights and policies related to student recruitment.
  • Evaluate admissions applications and participate at a leadership level in committee deliberations and strategic enrollment decisions.
  • Manage an assigned geographic territory and serve as its primary contact. Represent the College as a senior leader virtually and in-person in various contexts and locations.
  • Plan on-campus, regional, and virtual events that help to inform prospective students about the College and attract admitted students to enroll.
  • Identify and establish relationships with schools, CBOs, and other community organizations that will increase the College’s efforts at expanding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work. Serve as liaison to College student support and leadership programs including the BOLD Scholars.
  • Provide guidance on admissions policy and strategic engagement

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required; master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of college admissions or school counseling experience required. Experience in other education settings (teaching, counseling, administration, etc.) a plus.
  • Staff management experience and ability to mentor and support emerging professionals.
  • Strong cross-cultural, interpersonal and writing skills are necessary, including public speaking expertise and the ability to present the College effectively to diverse populations.
  • Top organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to direct multiple projects in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a collaborative teamwork setting Strong systems and technology/computer capabilities, with Slate expertise highly desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Operating a computer for extended periods of time (at least a full 8-hour work day), particularly during application reading season. Ability to work in a wide variety of conditions and environments depending on the time of year: the office; schools, hotels, and homes while on the road; and occasionally from home. Light physical activity is often required. Extensive travel required, including in inclement weather. Evening and weekend work is routine during peak seasons
