Vasion is looking for a Manager, Engineering that exemplifies our core values and wants to be part of our growing team. POSITION SUMMARY

As an Engineering Manager at Vasion, you'll play a pivotal role in our organization's success. This is a challenging yet rewarding position that provides the opportunity to lead, mentor, and drive accountability within the engineering teams that you’ll lead. You'll serve as a bridge between technical expertise and product innovation, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. This role serves as a stepping stone to senior management positions, offering a chance to shape not only our products but also the careers of those you lead.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Productivity and Accountability:

  • Lead a team of dedicated engineers to achieve high-quality, on-time deliverables.
  • Set the tone for the team's behavior, fostering a culture of enthusiasm, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship, guiding team members to excel in their roles.
  • Drive SCRUM activities and ensure efficient project execution.
  • Ensure the team's success by measuring happiness, productivity, and successful deliverables.

2. Member of a Product Team Trifecta:

  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Designers to solve customer problems through management of technical feasibility.
  • Ensure that product decisions are feasible, as well as valuable, usabile, viable.
  • Serve as the technical arm of a product team trifecta, assessing technical possibilities, dependencies, and challenges.

3. Set the Tone:

  • Project leadership and a positive outlook that encourages optimism, problem-solving, and mutual support.
  • Embody and promote the company's values, fostering a productive, blameless culture.
  • Drive a positive and productive work environment, inspiring your team to excel.

4. Technical Lead:

  • Balance feature design and feasibility, guide technical discovery activities.
  • Lead the team's technical direction, serving as the team’s immediate architect while collaboratively designing next-generation cloud systems with enterprise and solution architects.
  • Participate in design reviews and ensure technical readiness before coding.
  • Utilize your technical prowess to explore innovative solutions and drive success.

5. Mentorship:

  • Provide mentorship and career development guidance to your team members.
  • Help engineers set and achieve technical goals, fostering growth and skill enhancement.
  • Act as an approachable resource for technical questions and learning opportunities.

6. Agile Facilitator and Coach:

  • Facilitate Agile practices, ensuring sprint success and removing roadblocks through SCRUM activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth coordination.
  • Guide the team in self-management and cross-functionality.

7. Elevated Perspective and Influence:

  • Possess a broad perspective, ensuring effective cross-team collaboration.
  • Utilize your influence to drive productivity, innovation, and inter-team coordination.
  • Deep expertise with the following technologies: relational databases and microservices.
  • Comfortable working with Github Actions, AWS, and Docker.
  • Experience in Golang and MySQL

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven experience in engineering leadership roles, with a strong track record of team management and mentorship.
  • Expertise in Agile methodologies and SCRUM practices.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to balance technical and managerial responsibilities effectively.
  • Innovative mindset, capable of driving technical solutions and inspiring creativity.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence positive change.
  • A track record of 5+ years of related development experience
