Job Overview:
Open Range, a leading construction company, seeks a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will manage and process all aspects of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely transaction processing. This role is crucial in maintaining our company's financial health by managing invoicing, payments, collections, and vendor relations.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Process and verify vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Manage the approval workflow for all invoices and ensure timely payments to vendors.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of all payables transactions and update the accounting system accordingly.
- Prepare and process checks, wire transfers, and ACH payments.
- Collaborate with the procurement and project management teams to verify purchase orders, contracts, and change orders.
General Accounting:
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Maintain and organize financial records, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and supported by proper documentation.
- Support the Accounting Manager with audits, tax preparation, and other accounting tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Education: An Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounts payable and receivable, preferably in the construction industry.
- Technology: Experience with accounting software QuickBooks online.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with vendors, clients, and team members.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently.
