An affiliate of Dairy Management Inc. and National Dairy Council, Dairy MAX was founded in 1995 to represent dairy farmers across Texas, western Oklahoma, New Mexico and southwest Kansas. In 2018, the former Western Dairy Association – representing farmers across Colorado, Wyoming and Montana since 1936 – became part of the Dairy MAX family. In 2019, Dairy MAX and the Louisiana Dairy Industry Promotion Board confirmed a partnership to engage in dairy promotion in Louisiana together.

Position Summary:

Serving as an integral member of the executive leadership team, the Vice President Business Development (BD) oversees all daily operations of the BD team, plays an integral role in organizational strategic planning while leading departmental strategic planning, execution and measurement of the BD effort to ensure they align with the Unified Marketing Plan (UMP) and contribute to achieving established organizational goals.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and model the vision and values of the organization and support organizational and team culture to create a sense of teamwork among co-workers
  • Supports the CSO in leading the DMX Strategic Planning Process and collaborate with other Dairy MAX Leadership Team members to develop organizational plan to guide Dairy Max efforts to align with and achieve goals set forth in the UMP
  • Provide vision and leadership for the BD department with an emphasis on driving dairy sales by influencing dairy processors, manufactures, and retailers to innovate to meet customer needs across sales channels (ie: food service, QSRs, schools, retail, ecommerce) and building dairy’s reputation with Gen Z customers through targeted influencer campaigns and sports marketing initiatives. Sales and reputation growth are the focus of the role both domestically and internationally, specifically in Mexico and South America.
  • Build, inspire, and manage a high-performing team that works collaboratively across the organization as appropriate
  • Establish and communicate job responsibilities, priorities and expectations for SM team members to ensure mutual understanding of desired results
  • Working with directors, assess employee performance, assist team members with developing Individual Development Plans (IDP), provide constructive feedback and development opportunities that will assist them in achieving improved job performance and/or career objectives
  • Collaborate with Vice President School Marketing to drive sales of dairy in and out of school to youth by engaging key influencers
  • Seek out and source new partnership opportunities to promote dairy consumption and/or dairy farmers, such as with food banks, food service companies, Instacart, processor, etc.; develop professional networks and identify relevant resources for sales and business development
  • Oversee Dairy MAX sponsorship programs with the NFL, MLB, and NHL
  • Oversee Dairy MAX sponsorship programs with collegiate athletes and all eSports initiatives
  • Participate in influential boards and organizations to advance dairy and Dairy MAX, as appropriate
  • Serve as liaison to Dairy Management Inc. (DMI) to execute the national strategy for related business initiatives; lead or participate in related federation meetings representing Dairy MAX
  • Along with directors and BD communicator, oversee engagement with outside partner agencies for development of marketing materials, campaigns and communications to promote dairy consumption
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting results, trends, and opportunities to Dairy MAX management and Board of Directors
  • Serve as a Dairy MAX spokesperson, as appropriate
  • Perform other duties as assigned or approved

Budget Management:

  • Collaborate with appropriate BD team members and agency personnel in creating accurate budget projections
  • Monitor and manage within the specified program area budget, approving estimates and invoices as necessary
  • Reconcile program costs against budget for appropriate budget accounts
  • Work with team and vendors to manage/mitigate third party costs for maximum benefit to the organization

Education, License, Certification, Experience & Languages*

Bachelor’s degree - Required

Master’s degree - Preferred

10+ years’ experience in related field - Preferred

Bilingual in English / Spanish - A Plus
