Unit Secretary - Full-Time

Welcome to Yoakum Community Hospital! We are a dedicated healthcare facility serving the Yoakum community since 1922. Our hospital, managed by Community Hospital Corporation of Plano, Texas, operates as a not-for-profit organization committed to providing high-quality healthcare services to our patients.

As a Unit Secretary in our hospital, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical/surgical unit. You will provide clerical support, maintain accurate records, manage supplies, and communicate effectively with hospital personnel and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

• Answer patient intercom system and phone calls promptly, referring them to the appropriate person
• Maintain accurate record-keeping and perform clerical duties specific to the medical/surgical unit
• Help in the management of the unit by maintaining an organized work environment and managing supplies
• Effectively communicate important information to other healthcare professionals involved in patient care
• Treat patients and their families with respect, dignity, and confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations
• Assist with staffing and provide support to other departments as needed

Requirements

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous experience as a unit secretary or medical office experience preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency in computer usage and data entry
• Ability to maintain composure under stress and handle stressful situations
• Knowledge of related state and federal guidelines, rules, and regulations
• Flexibility to work full-time hours and potentially rotating shifts
