The Traffic & Logistics Manager is a full-time, salaried, on-site position located at Piping Technology & Products, Inc., 3701 Holmes Road, Houston, TX 77051. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing all transportation and logistics of both inbound and outbound shipments. This role will be assigned supervisory duties as needed. Candidates must have reputable experience negotiating rates with carriers. References of such duties may be required during the hiring process. This role is responsible for ensuring timely deliveries, tracking shipments from the planning-and scheduling stage through the delivery phase (including the coordination and time management of deliveries with both customers and carriers), optimizing freight costs, and ensuring that the department is always in compliance with transportation and shipping regulations, company policies, government regulations. Safety is a key component to this position and we expect our leaders to uphold the highest safety standards and practices at all times. The FT&T Manager will interact with all levels of the supply chain: customers, vendors, warehouse teams, and internal departments (including executive management). This role requires the use of a professional level of written and verbal communication. The highest priority of the FT&T Manager is to ensure smooth and cost-efficient operations of the department at all times. Experience handling, receiving, and shipping hazardous materials desired. Forklift and warehouse experience is a plus. This is a high-pressure position. The right candidate will excel in a results-driven, fast-paced environment.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics (or a related field) highly preferred
3-5 years’ experience in freight coordination/logistics/transportation
5+ years’ experience in logistics may be considered in lieu of degree
A minimum of 2 years inbound/outbound shipping experience required
A minimum of 1 year carrier negotiating experience
A minimum of 1 year management/supervisory experience.
Excellent leadership and time management skills
Experience with hazardous materials handling is a plus
Must work well under pressure
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit, stand, or move around for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry packages 30 lbs. +
