Aspen Fiber Networks, a leading information technology solutions provider, is seeking a skilled and motivated Telecom Cabling Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunications cabling systems for our clients.
As a Telecom Cabling Technician, you will work closely with clients and team members to ensure reliable connectivity and optimal performance of telecom cabling infrastructures. You will be tasked with installing various types of cabling, such as copper and fiber optics, while adhering to industry standards and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test various telecom cabling systems, including copper and fiber optic cables.
- Troubleshoot and resolve cabling issues for clients.
- Maintain accurate documentation of cabling installations and repairs.
- Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to complete installations efficiently.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards during installation and maintenance.
- Provide excellent customer service and support to clients.
- Use shovels and power equipment to direct bury service drops to homes.
- Install or repair underground handholes or pathways.
- Assist in the laying of underground fiber optic cable.
- Help with the installation and maintenance of fiber optic cables.
- Support crew members with splicing and testing of cables as required.
- Ensure a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols.
- Load and unload materials and equipment necessary for job tasks.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Telecom Cabling Technician or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of telecommunications cabling systems, including copper and fiber optics.
- Experience with cabling installation, termination, and testing tools and techniques.
- Prior experience in construction, utilities, or related field is preferred.
- Basic understanding of underground fiber optic cabling and installation processes is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in cabling installation.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications (such as BICSI, ETA, or similar) are a plus.
- Physical ability to perform installation tasks, including working in confined spaces and at heights.
